Redcar ROCKS! at the Redcar Kite Festival
13 to 15th June – Majuba Seafront, Redcar
The ESO-UK core team behind the Yorkshire Fossil Festival are attending Redcar Kite Festival in order launch, promote, and raise funds for the charity. We are teaming up with this year’s Redcar Kite Festival to offer a Redcar Rocks! zone at the festival.
The Redcar Rocks! are will comprise the following activities:
The Rock Showman’s Booth
With the Rock Showman and Friends
Open 11am to 4pm each day – check out the mobile museum full of mineral, fossils and Earth Science info, and see Dinosaur Footprints from local beaches!
British Geological Survey

Activities running 2-4pm each day: Geological Maps and learning from rocks
Redcar Rocks geology tours at 11.30 both days Tickets £10

Our team of scientists and fossil fans will be sharing experience throughout each day, helping you to Polish Your Own Fossil!
Buy a pre-cut fossil and learn how to polish it using water and different grades of sandpaper. 45 minutes activity – involves Mud!
All proceeds raise funds for ESOUK

Geo-walks, Redcar beach
On Saturday and Sunday, Laura & Laura from the BGS will lead Redcar Rocks geology walks, starting at 11.30. £10 Tickets for these have to be booked online, and sales will raise funds for ESOUK

On Sunday, Liam will lead a Redcar Rocks FOSSIL SAFARI, starting at 12.30. Again, tickets have to be booked online and sales will raise funds for ESOUK
Cerney Wick Quarry Mammoth Dig – 19th July to 10th Aug – Cirencester
Various team members will be attending to support the Mamoth Quarry Dig this summer. The Rock Showman will be providing structures for team well being. Sally Hollingworth (one of our amazing Trustees) is one of the main organisers.

Staithes Festival – 13 to 14th Septemeber – Staithes Harbour
Once again we are hoping to be taking a reduced version of the Yorkshire Fossil Festival to Staithes to promote Earth Science in the UK to those who may not usually have access to it.
